Allergen Policy

1. Our Commitment

We are a vegan and gluten-free bakery dedicated to transparency, safety, and clear communication. Every product we make uses vegan and gluten-free ingredients, and we work hard to support customers with dietary needs and preferences.

This policy explains how we manage allergens, how we communicate risks, and what customers should expect when ordering from us.

2. Ingredients & Recipe Standards

All items we bake are made with:

  • Vegan ingredients (no dairy, eggs, honey, or animal-derived products)
  • Gluten-free ingredients (no wheat, barley, rye, or oats, unless certified gluten free oats)

We do not intentionally add any of the 14 major allergens to our recipes unless clearly stated on the product page.

3. Allergens Present in Our Shared Kitchen

Although our recipes are vegan and gluten-free, our shared kitchen does handle all 14 major allergens, including:

  • Cereals containing gluten
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Nuts
  • Peanuts
  • Sesame
  • Soya
  • Mustard
  • Celery
  • Fish
  • Crustaceans
  • Molluscs
  • Lupin
  • Sulphites

These allergens may be present through shared equipment, storage areas, or supplier ingredients.

4. Cross-Contamination Risk

We follow strict cleaning, storage, and separation procedures. However, because our shared kitchen handles all major allergens, cross-contamination cannot be completely eliminated.

Precautionary Allergen Warning

All our products are made with vegan and gluten-free ingredients. However, they are prepared in our shared kitchen, which handles all major allergens. There is a risk of cross-contamination, so our products are not suitable for people with severe allergies.

5. Allergen Information for Online Orders

Before Purchase

Each product page includes:

  • A clear allergen statement
  • Any specific allergen risks relevant to that item
  • A reminder that cross-contamination is possible

At Delivery

Allergen information is provided again at delivery, either:

  • Printed on packaging
  • Included on a delivery slip
  • Or communicated verbally

This ensures customers receive allergen details both before and at the point of delivery.

6. Customer Guidance

We encourage customers with allergies to:

  • Read allergen information carefully before ordering
  • Contact us for clarification if needed
  • Avoid ordering if they have severe or life-threatening allergies, due to cross-contamination risk

If you have an allergy, please speak to the team or email info@bontalicious.com before placing an order.

We are always happy to answer questions about ingredients or processes.

7. Supplier Controls

We source ingredients from suppliers who provide full allergen declarations. However, supplier-level cross-contamination may still occur, and we reflect this in our precautionary labelling.

8. Policy Updates

We review this allergen policy regularly to ensure it aligns with current UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) guidance and reflects any changes in our shared kitchen processes or product range.
